The Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S 4MATIC + has claimed the SUV lap record at the infamous Nurburgring, recording a cracking 7min 49.369 lap to claim bragging rights from the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio.
The Stelvio Q claimed ‘Ring rights from the Porsche Cayenne Turbo with its own 7min51.7 lap in 2017, but its record has now been toppled by Merc's monstrous GLC 63 S.
Mercedes-AMG driver Markus Hofbauer was the wheelman for the record run, with the German brand claiming it required only one attempt to set the time.
The GLC 63 S makes use of a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 to provide its urgency, which will fire 375kW and 700Nm to all four tyres. That’s enough for a Stelvio Q-matching sprint from 0-100km/h of 3.8 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h.
