Part Rodeo, part police chaser, Aaron Gregory's "Memphis Hell" '51 Chevy pickup is all cool

By Iain KellyIain Kelly

It takes a whole lot of commitment to restore a classic car, but that is nothing compared to what is involved when you take three cars and build one amazing machine out of them using basic tools and your own imagination.

After trying his hand at building a minitruck, Aaron Gregory took an old Chevy truck left rotting in a field in Victoria, cut it to pieces, made it fit on a 1990s Holden Rodeo frame, then added a drivetrain from an ex-police chaser V8 Commodore, designed his own air bag suspension system and got it driving.

While that is impressive enough on its own, to make it to the annual Megiuar’s Motorex it was to debut at meant thrashing to paint it and assemble it with 20-hour days for weeks on end the norm. Aaron actually had to sleep in the workshop as driving home to go to bed would have taken too long.

Thankfully he made it and has been driving the wheels off the pick-up for the last five years. You can find out more from Nulon’s excellent 'Born This Way' video series, and see the original feature on Aaron's truck from Street Machine Magazine.
