How is oil mixing with coolant in my 2015 Volkswagen Polo?
Despite your extensive efforts to fix this problem, it appears you still have a situation where the coolant and oil are mixing. No oil should be able to mix with the coolant (or vice-versa) and if it is (which is why you’re seeing oil in the coolant tank) then you have a fairly major problem somewhere in the engine. Check the dipstick. Is the oil in the sump milky and opaque? I’m guessing it probably is, and that’s another giveaway that your engine has a major problem.
Perhaps the cylinder head itself is cracked. Maybe the engine has a split bore. Perhaps the light skimming the head received was not enough and it’s still warped. Either way, the oil and coolant are mixing and that’s bad. The fact that the oil and coolant in the bottle are being forced out of that tank suggests combustion pressure is also playing a part, once again signalling a leak between the oil, coolant and combustion areas of the engine.
Volkswagen Polo 2015: Is it safe to buy?
You're pretty safe with the 2015 model; the years to avoid are really around 2010/11.
Volkswagen Polo 2015: Could it handle rural Victoria?
There’s no reason why the Polo wouldn’t handle the country conditions well, it’s well built and strong, I don’t see why you shouldn’t buy it.
Volkswagen Polo 2015: DSG transmission problem?
It’s a common problem. A friend of mine has one and she has taken it back to the dealer so many times to have it fixed that she has lost faith in the car and VW. Every time she has taken it in they have updated the transmission software or adjusted it, but the problem has never been fixed. My reading is that VW is saying that it is acceptable and aren’t planning to do anything more about it. Go above the dealer and speak directly to VW’s customer relations people and let them know that you will not be fobbed off.
Volkswagen Polo 2015: Clutch replacement
Times have really changed at Volkswagen Australia. CEO Michael Bartsch has personally intervened in this case and is organising a like-for-like replacement to keep you in the family.
Volkswagen Polo 2015: Problems with GTI DSG
I contacted VW Australia and got a result you will like. Spokesman Karl Gehling says: "We have been in touch with this customer and, based on his experience, we have offered to buy back his car. He has accepted this offer and plans to buy a new Polo GTI."
Volkswagen Polo 2015: GTI DSG issues
Our consumer protection laws do have provisions for getting your money back or getting a replacement car, but it's not easy and you're likely to be drawn into a long and protracted process to make it happen. At the moment I would go along with VW's plan to replace the gearbox and go from there. Keep good records of what has happened to date, conversations you've had with the dealer and dealer staff, and VW, and maintain the record going forward so you have all the facts if it does prove to be an on-going issue.
Veloster vs A1 vs Polo GTI
The Veloster has just had an update and is better, the A1 is all right but the Polo is a ripper little thing that gets The Tick and is my choice.
Looking for a small car for $30,000
Definitely not a Cruze as I get lots of owner complaints. If you only need a small car, definitely the Polo. It's a classy little job that's a sporty drive and it gets The Tick.
Volkswagen Polo 1998: Nothing but trouble
We're always keen on owner feedback although the current Polo is light years away from your old-timer.
