Hyundai Santa Fe 2011: Dashboard lights during the day?

Asked by Graeme Barnes

My 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe has always had brighter instrument illumination when the lights are off than at night. When the lights are on they were less bright. A year ago they stopped illuminating when the lights were off. The dealership claimed that they weren't supposed to work with the lights off, but my son now has the same model car and his do illuminate brighter in daylight. The dealership still maintains that I am wrong. Am I?

We checked and you are correct, the dash lights should be on during the day and they should be brighter than they are in darker conditions or at night.
