Toyota Kluger 2005: What does snow mode do?

Asked by Stephen Lacy

MY 2005 Toyota Kluger Grande has a button that switches to snow mode, but I don't actually know what it does. I have read reviews of the Kluger and nobody has highlighted the function. I tried the Toyota website, and they put me on to their dealers who told me to check the manual. But nothing seems to tell me how this feature works.

IT'S a little-used function in Australia where we seldom have to drive in snowy or icy conditions. But in other countries where snow and ice are common it's very useful. Most often it switches the gearbox over so it starts off in second gear. It's harder to spin the wheels when you start in a higher gear.
