Holden has brought back its seven-year warranty from last year for a limited time as an incentive to try and boost sales of its new imported ZB Commodore and the Equinox mid-size SUV.
While last year’s offer only covered 175,000km, Holden is now backing its two latest models with unlimited kilometres and roadside assist over the extended warranty period.
Holden executive director of marketing Mark Harland said the extra cover is expected to draw more buyer attention to local showrooms.
"We want more and more people to come and take a look at just how good these vehicles are and experience some of the great engineering work from our talented engineers – our new seven-year warranty on Commodore and Equinox shows just how confident we are," he said.
Meanwhile, all 2018 plated models – including the Astra, Spark, Barina, Trax, Captiva, Colorado and Trailblazer – move to a five-year warranty with roadside assistance, while the Colorado pick-up and mechanically related Trailblazer seven-seater also gain three years free scheduled servicing.
All 2017 models also benefit from a five-year warranty and roadside assist, and three years of complimentary servicing.
Holden’s extended warranty, which usually covers a three-year/100,000km period, applies to all vehicles purchased before the end of the month.
The promotional offer is expected to boost Holden sales in the wake of the brand’s worst-performing February on record.
Last month, Holden recorded just 4689 registrations for a 4.9 per cent market share – a historic low for the brand – with just 737 examples of the Commodore and 364 units of the Equinox tallied.
