Subaru's new-generation Impreza hatch will hit local driveways from December this year, with pricing up at least $4000 compared to before.
That's for the new entry-level L, which now kicks off the range at $31,490 before on-road costs.
The mid-spec R is priced at $34,990, a $4900 jump over the outgoing Premium, while the top-spec S is now $5200 pricier than before at $37,990.

However, each Impreza features all-wheel-drive traction to stand them apart from other small hatchbacks like the Toyota Corolla, Mazda3, Kia Cerato and Hyundai i30.
Powering all new versions of the Impreza is a carryover 2.0-litre petrol engine producing 115kW/196Nm, which is mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with eight simulated gears when using manual mode.
Fuel economy in the new hatchback is a combined 7.5 litres per 100km, while carbon dioxide emissions hit 170 grams per kilometre.
Standard equipment includes 17-inch wheels, active torque vectoring, rear privacy glass, LED headlights, dual-zone climate control, push-button start, cloth interior and a wireless smartphone charger.
Handling multimedia is an 11.6-inch touchscreen with six speakers, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, digital radio and voice controls.
For safety there's a driver monitoring system with facial recognition, blind-spot monitoring, a reversion camera, lane change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, tyre pressure monitor and a reversing camera.
Stepping up to the R adds 18-inch wheels as well as automatic highbeams, a surround-view monitor, heated side mirrors, LED daytime running lights, sports pedals, auto-dimming rearview mirror, light-up vanity mirrors, 'premium' cloth interior, leather steering wheel and shifter, power-adjustable driver's seat, and heated front seats.
The top-spec S meanwhile, scores an electric sunroof, leather-accented interior, a 10-speaker Harman Kardon sound system and in-built satellite navigation.
In the US, the new Impreza is also offered with a 2.5-litre engine that produces 136kW/197Nm, however it remains unclear if this powertrain will make it to Australia.
