The most affordable member of the Ford Escape mid-sized SUV family is the entry grade Ambiente and it kicks off at $28,490 for the front-wheel drive (FWD) version of the car with a manual gearbox.
For $1500 extra you can have the car with an automatic transmission and for $4500 more than the base car's price you can have the Ambiente with all-wheel drive (AWD).
There's one engine for the Ambiente grade – it's a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol. The six-speed automatic transmission is matched to a more powerful version of the engine – it makes 134kW/240Nm while the six-speed manual has a 110kW/240Nm unit.

Ambiente standard features include an 8.0-inch touchscreen with sat nav, rearview camera, and Ford's latest Sync3 media system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rear parking sensors, dual-zone climate control, halogen projector headlights, stainless steel twin exhaust, cloth seats and steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters in the auto.
