The Ford Escape mid-sized SUV line-up covers three grades, and the Trend is right in the middle. Buyers can get into a Trend for less money now that there's a front-wheel drive (FWD) version for $32,990.
That FWD Trend has a 1.5-litre 134kW/240Nm four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine and if you want an all-wheel drive (AWD) with a petrol engine you'll need to pay an extra $3k but it has a gruntier 2.0-litre 178kW/345Nm four-cylinder turbo. There's an AWD diesel Trend, too – it has a 2.0-litre 132kW/400Nm four-cylinder turbo and that lists for $38,490. All cars have a six-speed automatic transmission.
Standard features on the Trend include an 8.0-inch touchscreen with rearview camera, and Ford's latest Sync3 media system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, sat nav, rear parking sensors, a six-speaker sound system, two USB ports, dual-zone climate control, halogen projector headlights, stainless steel twin exhaust, cloth seats and steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
The optional Technology Pack for $1300 brings advanced safety features such as AEB, blind spot and rear cross traffic alert.
