The SX is the entry grade of the D-Max range and it’s available with several different body styles and drivetrains. The 4x2 single cab chassis with a manual in SX grade kicks the line-up off at $28,500. The same ute with the high ride and an auto costs $31,700 and as a crew cab costs $37,300.
The 4x2 ute with a space cab, plus high ride and auto is $35,500 (there’s no manual); the 4x2 crew cab ute with a manual is $34,500 (there’s no auto) and if you want that with the high ride and an auto it’s $38,000 (no manual).
All 4x4 D-Maxs are High Ride and the SX grade starts with the cab chassis – if you want it as a single cab with a manual it's $38,000 (auto is $1100 more), if you want it as a space cab it’s $40,700 (auto is $1100 more); and as a crew cab its $43,200 (auto is $2100 more).
As a crew cab the 4x4 ute in the SX grade with a manual is $43,900 (auto is $2100 more).
Standard features on the SX grade include a 7.0-inch display, halogen headlights, hill descent control, gun metal grey grille, colour-coded front bumper, black door handles, air conditioning, pollen air filter, power windows, keyless entry, leather wrapped steering wheel and vinyl floors.
D-Max models have the same 130kW/430Nm 3.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine. It’s a new unit developed for Australia by Isuzu and arrived with the February 2017 update to the D-Max which also saw the five-speed manual gearbox and five-speed automatic transmission swapped for a new six-speed manual and six-speed auto.
Braked towing capacity ranges from 2500kg for the Low Ride Single Cab Chassis to 3500kg for the rest, and ground clearance ranges from 190mm to 225mm.
The update is the first major change to the D-max since this generation of the ute was introduced in 2012, and also incorporates new styling to the front of the vehicle.
