    The entry-point to the petrol-powered models in the Mercedes-Benz S-Class 2018 range is the S 450 L. Surprisingly, it's a long-wheelbase variant that's the most affordable petrol - but that largely comes down to its less exclusive engine.

    It's powered by a 3.0-litre, twin-turbo, six-cylinder engine with 270kW of power and 520Nm of torque, and fuel use is rated at 8.4L/100km - not much below the twin-turbo V8 in the next petrol model up (S 560). It has a nine-speed auto and rear-wheel drive.

    The S 450 L is equipped identically to the S 400 d L, and as such they feature the extended wheelbase, as well as electronically adjustable rear seats with memory function, side window blinds, a rear blind, rear climate control, and 20-inch wheels.

    Further standard kit includes leather trim, heated and cooled front seats, nappa leather-wrapped steering wheel, great new LED headlights and a new interior ambient lighting system, a panoramic sunroof, head-up display, dark brown 'Eucalyptus' trim, auto-dimming rear-view and side mirrors, a wireless phone charging system, keyless entry and push-button start, auto-closing doors and an electric boot lid, too.
