The $80,100 GLC 250 Coupe marks the mid-point in the current range, sitting above the 220d and below the 250d in the line-up.
It picks up Merc's turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine, which will generate 155kW and 350Nm, sending that power to all four wheels. It's enough for a sprint time of 7.3secs before climbing to a 222km/h top speed. The engine is paired with a nine-speed torque converter automatic, and will sip a claimed/combined 7.4-litres per hundred kilometres.
Street cred is taken care of thanks to the standard AMG Line Pack, adding bigger alloys, body skirting and a sportier interior treatment, while springing for the mid-spec car also adds genuine leather and proximity unlocking to the extensive standard features list of the entry-level 220d.
Mercedes' Driver Assistance Package joins the safety list, too, adding adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and an active blind spot monitoring system to the base model's nine airbags, AEB and 360-degree camera.
