Auto transmission oil cooler
The best option it would seem to me is to fit an external cooler and bypass Ford's cooler in the radiator. Changing the cooler every year doesn't really seem to be a workable option for most people.
BA Futura brake master cylinder
It's likely that the brake booster needs to be replaced, although some owners have reported that they have fixed the problem by adjusting the rod between the booster and the master cylinder. I suggest that the problem is still in that area even though the master cylinder has been replaced.
Ford Falcon: Brake shudder
A number of people contacted us about this issue, all pointing to the brakes as the root cause of the issue. From what we know the brakes don't fully release after they've been applied and this leads to them heating up and the disc distorting causing the vibration. Some suggested replacing the brake booster, others, like you, suggested adjusting the rod between the booster and the master cylinder.
Ford Falcon: Transmission problems
You'd have to wonder if they've actually done the work they claim to have done, or if they have then you'd have to question their competence. I would go to another automatic transmission specialist and get your car assessed by them.
Ford Falcon intermittent shudder
We haven't experienced the problem directly, but we have had another report of a shudder very similar to yours on a Falcon. It was intermittent, like yours, and didn't affect the owner's other Falcon, but the owner felt it occurred most often on a particular stretch of highway he regularly used. That suggests the suspension is being excited by the road profile. Like you he had consulted with mechanics, but has yet to find the solution. It could be worth changing the front shock absorbers.
Upgrade to liquid injection?
By the latest system I assume you mean liquid injection. You couldn't update your current system to liquid injection, you would have to remove the old system and have a new system installed. But my recommendation would be don't do it, the advantage of liquid injection over vapour is not clear. What you've got is arguably as good as you can get right now.
Ford Falcon: Leaking spark plugs
It's not normal. Make sure you are using the recommended antifreeze in the coolant; that stops electrolysis, which is probably what's causing your problem.
Ford Falcon: Transmission coolant problem
It can happen at any time, it doesn't have to be at 170,000 km. It happens when the transmission oil cooler, which is in the radiator bottom tank, fails and allows engine coolant to enter the transmission fluid stream. It's common with the BA and BF models, but not the BFII, which had an external transmission fluid cooler to overcome the problem. The only real way of ensuring it doesn't happen is to fit an external transmission cooler and bypass the one in the radiator.
