Ford Falcon 2005: Cutting out
It’s most likely a problem with the engine management system; it could be a faulty connection, dodgey sensor, or a problem with the ECU.
Ford Falcon 2005: Paint peel
The problem you have got is that the car is now 12 years old and could be expected to have some issues with body and paint. Ford has already come to the party three times, and I reckon that demonstrates the company’s support for owners with the problem. If you really want to pursue it go to the state government consumer affairs department and seek their advice.
Ford Falcon 500: Oil leak
The Falcon engine has a cam timing chain, so that's not your problem. If the auxiliary drive belt looks like it might be slipping, it could mean that it's worn, so have it changed. It won't cost you much to have it done. The oil leak could be from the head gasket, it might be sealing correctly. A head gasket change would cost you up to $1000.
Normal fuel consumption for XR6?
Ford's official fuel consumption was 11.3L/100km combined, now that's a blend of city type driving and country driving.
Given that, if you're driving mostly in the city I would expect you to get a little more than 11.3L/100km, so maybe it's not too far from what you should be getting.
It shouldn't be pinging on 91-octane fuel, and I'm guessing the engine is carboned-up.
I would give it a solid blast down the highway and see if you can blow the carbon out. You could also try an engine cleaner in the fuel.
FPV F6 Typhoon: Known issues
Most of the issues were problems with the BA-BF Falcon, but there were few specific problems relating to the F6 Typhoon. Perhaps the main one is a problem with the auto trans cooler, which can fail and allow transmission oil to mix with coolant and damage the transmission. Other than that look for signs of the car being thrashed, go for one that has been looked after.
Ford Falcon 2005: Peeling paint
There's no easy fix I'm afraid, the only way to fix it is to repaint it.
Ford Falcon 2005: Slipping transmission
You've done the things that would normally be done when a car comes in with this sort of complaint, that is servicing the transmission and installing a new 2-3 shift solenoid. If that hasn't fixed it the next step would be to delve inside and rebuild it. It's unlikely to be a computer glitch, but perhaps the error code could help tell you what the issue is.
BF Ford Falcon fuel consumption
If it is also running poorly check the engine tune and things like the spark plugs, leads, filters, coils, and perhaps clean the throttle body. You really need to get a competent mechanic to check it. I doubt that it is a software problem, but a dealer could check for sensor problems etc.
