Toyota LandCruiser: horizontal vibration
200-Series owners commonly report the vibration you are experiencing. There was talk of revised engine mounts, but it's unclear if anything was released. We'll check with Toyota.
Toyota Land Cruiser: updating sat nav
Talk to your dealer about getting the latest version installed. The version you have was most likely the latest available when the vehicle was built or the GPS produced.
Toyota Land Cruiser: vibrating in top gear
Toyota Australia spokesman, Steve Coughlan replies: “From our records, Brighton Toyota has reported a very light vibration at speed consistent with when the torque convertor lock-up clutch engages. To fully understand the issue we will arrange for one of our Technical Field Managers to contact Mr Jeffrey and assess the vehicle. A member of the team will contact him to set up a meeting”.
Best 4WD under $50k for towing and off-road
The towing rating is the main thing you need to get right, and your need to tow a horse float with two horses means you need a heavy four-wheel drive, like a Landcruiser or Patrol. Either one will be up to the towing task, and could be driven by a novice, but would be chore to drive around town.
Good all-wheel drive SUV options
With modern stability control systems and on-demand all-wheel-drive you are far less likely to get caught out with understeer (where the nose of the car pushes wide) than you once were. Having said that, the Kluger — and the LandCruiser for that matter — aren't city-friendly vehicles. If you no longer need to tow but still like the safety net of all-wheel-drive, why not look at a Subaru Outback or Forester?
Best option for towing 2500kg caravan?
Jeep is overhauling its customer support systems in Australia and I'm much more confident in recommending the Grand Cherokee. It will also be fine for your towing and any off-road work.
Toyota LandCruiser: GXL or Sahara?
A four-year-old Sahara will barely be run in. If you like all the fruit then have it.
Isuzu MU-X: Is it a good car for towing?
The MU-X is not as refined as a LandCruiser but is a lot cheaper and is a solid, sensible workhorse. It should be fine for towing and travelling.
Land Cruiser or Discovery Sport for driving in the outback?
The new Discovery Sport is an excellent car, both stylish and suitable for family use. I would drive a current Range Rover across Australia, although I know Toyota has the best reputation and support network in the Outback.
Toyota LandCruiser: hill start assist not working
I don't believe they are having you on. You might experience some small amount of rollback when the brakes are released, and the noise you are hearing is most likely the traction control working.
