Every year the entry-level 3 gets better and almost without fail you get more for your money. Every year the entry-level 3 gets better and almost without fail you get more for your money. In 2018, you not only get more stuff, but you get a bigger name in the form of Neo Sport.

Now opening the range at $21,490 for the six-speed manual and $23,490 for the more efficient six-speed auto, the 3 is still powered by the same 2.0-litre 'SkyActiv' petrol with stop start, 114kW and 200Nm.

Its features include 16-inch alloy wheels, a six-speaker stereo with Bluetooth and USB, air-conditioning, cloth trim, remote central locking, keyless start, rear parking sensors, cruise control, manual handbrake, power windows and mirrors and a space-saver spare.

Critically, it's not just five extra letters that comes  with the model upgrade - you now get the full Mazda 'MZD Connect' entertainment system, the bump to six speakers and the addition of DAB digtal radio and a reversing camera.

The 3 also comes with six airbags, ABS, stability and traction controls and forward AEB.
