The GT version of the new MX-5 RF lists at $43,890, or $5340 over the base version that sits beneath it. It also commands a $3990 premium over the equivalent 2.0-litre soft top MX-5 GT.
Aside from the electric folding hardtop that will raise or lower in 13 seconds, standard features include leather trim with front seat heaters, nine-speaker Bose audio, seven-inch MZD Connect multimedia screen with sat nav and embedded apps (but no Apple CarPlay or Android Auto), climate control, auto headlights and wipers, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, active headlights, proximity unlocking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and 17-inch alloy wheels.
Like all RF’s, the GT gets the 118kW/200Nm 2.0-litre petrol engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission, with the option of a six-speed torque converter auto for an extra $2000.
