Nissan X-Trail TL 2017 review: snapshot

2017 Nissan X-Trail (Ti variant shown)

The TL trim is the top-spec diesel in the X-Trail range.

The TL trim is the top-spec diesel in the X-Trail range and, at a cool $47,290, it's also the most expensive model in the line-up.

Your considerable spend buys you a 2.0-litre diesel engine good for 130kW/380Nm, channelled through a CVT auto before sending its power to all four wheels. The standard equipment list is booming, too, including bigger 19-inch alloy wheels, a better Bose stereo, leather-trimmed seats that are heated in the first and second row, a powered sunroof and a boot that opens automatically when you wave your foot under it. But there's still no Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

The TL arrives with the standard X-Trail safety package of six airbags (dual front, front-side and curtain bags), along with a surround-view parking camera and forward collision warning with AEB and pedestrian detection. You'll also get blind-spot monitoring and lane departure warning.
