Kia Sportage 2015: Locked out
We contacted Kia and it seems there are a couple of possible things you could do, but they need more information to identify the type of key your car uses. They recommended that you contact their customer assistance service on 131 542 and they will be happy to assist you.
CR-V, X-Trail or Sportage?
Stop me if you've heard this before. Definitely reconsider as the South Korean brands have made massive improvements in recent years and the Sportage tops the CR-V and X-Trail.
Hyundai or Kia for a smaller SUV?
The ix35 is definitely a good choice but I lean to the styling of the Kia Sportage and it has a longer warranty. They are mechanically identical, apart from suspension tune.
Trading up to an SUV
The CX-5 is a clear winner for what you want and is virtually a weekly recipient of The Tick.
Good pick for mid-size SUV?
I'd go for a Kia Sportage or a Hyundai ix35. They are essentially the same under the skin, and both get The Tick, so it comes down to the deal.
Kia Sportage 2015: Diesel vs petrol
Generally petrol is better if your driving is short trips, diesels are much better when you drive longer distances and steady speeds are better than stop-start running.
Kia Sportage 2015: Choosing a model grade?
Definitely pay extra for the camera, but if you're not going camping or off-road then there is no point to all-wheel drive.
Good car for an older person?
I'd suggest you wait, just a little, and investigate the new breed of compact SUVs. Right now you can choose from the Subaru XV and Renault Captur, which I give The Tick, but soon enough there will also be a Mazda CX-3 that looks like the pick of the litter.
Good used SUV for $22,000?
A Kia Sportage is good value, solid and probably will have some warranty at that price. Others to consider are the Nissan Dualis and Hyundai ix35, depending on how much space you need.
