Mazda BT-50: Engine and powertrain light illuminated
You need to take it to a mechanic for a diagnostic check to find the cause of the problem. It sounds like it could be in the transmission; perhaps the powertrain module could be at fault.
Mazda BT-50: Automatic transmission flaring
You shouldn’t be using Park as a brake, that’s not what it is intended for, and could damage the transmission. If you want to stop the vehicle change down through the ratios manually and apply the brakes. The problem is unlikely to be the wiring harness, it sounds like it’s deeper within the transmission. Have your dealer check it, or take it to an automatic transmission specialist.
Mazda BT-50: Automatic transmission recall
There was a recall in November 2017 to fix a problem with a gearshift cable retaining clip that could cause the cable to come in contact and be damaged by the prop shaft. The result was that you couldn’t change gears and could lose drive.
Mazda BT-50: Automatic transmission problems
I’d guess there’s some serious internal trouble and that you should take it to a transmission specialist to have it assessed.
Mazda BT-50: Does it have transmission problems?
There have been reports of problems with the BT-50 auto, rough shifting etc., which could be enough to put you off buying one.
Mazda BT-50 2009: Why won't it engage 4WD?
We haven't had any reports of this problem before. Take it to a dealer or a four-wheel drive specialist to sort out for you.
Mazda BT-50: Driveshaft issues
Mazda spokeswoman Karla Leach has good news: "After reviewing the customer's case, we have refunded the cost of the driveshaft."
Mazda BT-50 2015: Towing with a manual transmission
There will be no damage. Using the correct gear is about ensuring you have the engine operating efficiently, even in top, and your fuel figures show you did a good job.
Mazda BT-50 2007: Smelly clutch
The clutch might be smelly, but is it slipping or doing anything else untoward. Clutches are a regularly reported problem on one-tonne utes, which suggests most are borderline in capacity. If there is a problem with the functioning of the clutch, approach Mazda again about replacing it. If there isn't a problem think about replacing the clutch with a heavy-duty one that's more capable of handling your towing needs.
Mazda BT-50: Manual gearbox issues
There are plenty of reports of the BT50 gearbox jumping out of fifth gear, but we haven’t seen one of it jumping out of first. It could be wear, although it’s very low kays for wear to be showing up. Take it to a gearbox specialist and have it checked.
