Mazda BT-50: Strange engine noise

Answered by CarsGuide 12 Nov 2015

It's a diesel, so it's not pinging. I suspect it's the injectors rattling. Have a diesel mechanic check them for you.

Mazda BT-50 2015: Sagging suspension

Answered by CarsGuide 16 Oct 2015

It appears it's still an issue, and not just with the BT-50. Others have the same problem. If you're going to buy a one-tonner and want to work it hard consider having the rear suspension upgraded.

Best option for towing 2500kg caravan?

Answered by CarsGuide 12 Oct 2015

Jeep is overhauling its customer support systems in Australia and I'm much more confident in recommending the Grand Cherokee. It will also be fine for your towing and any off-road work.

Mazda BT-50 2012: persistent water build-up

Answered by CarsGuide 21 Aug 2015

You shouldn’t need to be draining water out of the system every couple of weeks; that says there is something wrong. Your mechanic is right; the dealer should have flushed the fuel system out to make sure there was no water in the system when you drove the car away. I would go back to the dealer and talk to him about some sort of compensation. They haven’t been as diligent as they should have been.

Isuzu MU-X 2015: Is it suitable for towing?

Answered by CarsGuide 12 Jun 2015

The MU-X is rated to tow 3000 kg, which is well above the 2100 kg you say your caravan weighs. On that basis it would seem to be well suited to your towing needs.

Best dual-cab 4x4 ute?

Answered by CarsGuide 25 May 2015

The locally developed Ranger gets The Tick and is best in class. Also check pricing on the Mazda BT-50 as it's a clone of the Ford, as well as private pricing for Mitsubishi's Triton.

Mazda BT-50 2014: Inverted springs

Answered by CarsGuide 3 Apr 2015

We have had one or two other complaints about the rear springs on the Ranger, which presumably is the same as the BT-50. Like you I would be concerned if the springs on my vehicle were inverted, and I would not be happy about them riding on the bump stops, and I too would question the vehicle's ability to do what it is claimed to be capable of. I would take it to a suspension specialist and have it uprated to do what you want to do with it.
