Toyota Camry 1995: What is a good price?

Answered by CarsGuide 2 Jan 2015

It's almost 20 years old; its value is next to nothing. Irrespective of the condition of the body before the crash and that is had a refurbished engine it's really not worth very much. I would expect that you would get $1000 to $2000 for it.

Toyota Camry 1995: When do brake rotors need to be replaced?

Answered by CarsGuide 15 Mar 2012

It's almost an automatic thing these days to machine the disc rotors at the first change of pads and then replace them at the second pad change. The first skim is usually to smooth the surface so the pedal doesn't pulsate under braking, and shouldn't really affect the braking performance. The replacement of the discs is usually because they are worn out, and below the minimum thickness. Now this varies considerably from brand to brand, European brands generally have softer discs that wear faster than discs on Japanese brands like your mate's Toyota. Getting 400,000 km out of a set of discs is amazing.

Quick cheap option

Answered by CarsGuide 18 Jan 2008

THE answer depends on the condition of the cars. Without knowing that it's hard to make an accurate call, but my feeling is the Camry has too many kays on it, the Leganza is too expensive and the long-term durability of Daewoos is unknown to a large extent, which leaves the Saabs. Of the two, I would go for the one with the lower kays, though there isn't much in it.

It's a buyer's market

Answered by CarsGuide 9 Aug 2007

CHECK the history of the car, its service record, etc, so you know what it has been doing. Also, get one of the motoring associations to check over it for you if you're not confident. It should have had the cam belt changed by now, so check to see this has been done. Otherwise you will be up for that. The asking price is steep, despite the low mileage. I would be trying to negotiate it down to $9000 or even less. Remember, it's a buyer's market out there.
