The Ford Transit is one of many discounted vans as part of the 2020 end-of-financial-year sales.

Things have been a little chaotic in 2020, to say the least, but from chaos might come opportunity. With the car industry hit particularly hard by recent events, and the end of financial year (EOFY) fast approaching, manufacturers have slashed prices on many new vans.

Eligible business owners will also be able to take advantage of the instant asset write-off scheme, meaning that you may be able to claim the depreciation amount of a work-related vehicle.

The Australian government recently updated the scheme as part of its coronavirus economic stimulus measures, increasing the asset limit to $150,000, and extending the offering to any business with an aggregated turnover of less than $500 million.

Simply put, whether you are a tradesman or a small business owner, camper or adventure seeker, now is a great time to find a deal on a new van.

Ford Transit

The Transit 350L FWD is now $51,990.

Ford has heavily discounted its Transit 350L long-wheelbase van range, with the rear-wheel-drive variant dropped from $49,490 plus on-road costs, to $46,990 drive-away.

It’s a similar story with the higher-spec Transit 350L FWD, with pricing dropped from $51,990 plus on-road costs, down to $49,490 drive-away.

Both vehicles use a 125kW 2.0-litre diesel engine, however, the front-wheel-driven variant benefits from a six-speed automatic transmission.

Standard kit includes an 8.0-inch touchscreen multimedia system with smartphone mirroring and adaptive cruise control, as well as front and rear parking sensors.

Ford Transit Custom

Ford is advertising drive-away deals for its Transit Custom 340L ($48,190 d/a).

Ford has also announced EOFY deals across its Transit Custom range, shaving hundreds off on-road costs with special drive-away pricing.

Kicking off the range, the Transit Custom 340S is now on sale from $46,190 drive-away. The same 2.0-litre diesel automatic variant is usually priced from $44,990 plus on-road costs.

Ford is also advertising drive-away deals for its Transit Custom 340L ($48,190 d/a), 340L double cab ($51,190 d/a), Sport 320S ($49,690 d/a) and Sport 230L double cab ($54,690 d/a).

Hyundai iMax

The iMax Elite is priced at $49,480 drive-away.

There’s a few hundred dollars to be saved on Hyundai’s iMax range. The two-variant van line-up includes the Active, priced $45,930 drive-away, and the Elite which is offered from $49,480 drive-away.

For perspective, the iMax range is usually available from $44,490 plus on-road costs, and $48,990, respectively.

Both variants utilise a 2.5-litre diesel engine paired with a five-speed automatic transmission.

Renault Kangoo

The Kangoo Compact 1.2 is usually priced from $25,490 plus on-road costs.

Renault is offering $500 cashback on its Kangoo Compact van range, with the base manual variant offered from $26,490 drive-away. The Compact 1.2 is usually priced from $25,490 plus on-road costs.

The French carmaker is also running a 2019 plate clearance sale for its entire Kangoo range, starting at $24,990 drive-away for the base Compact 1.2 and topping out at $30,990 drive-away for the 2019 range-topping Maxi Crew.

Renault Trafic

With a $1000 cash back offering, Renault’s Trafic van is now available from $37,990 drive-away for the Pro manual variant.

Meanwhile, the higher-spec Premium automatic grade is now offered from $45,490 drive-away.

The mid-size van usually wears an MSRP of $36,490 plus on-road costs for the Pro, and $43,490 for the Premium, so there is surely a few bucks to be saved here.

Powering the entry-level Trafic Pro is a 1.6-litre diesel engine, however, the Premium benefits from a new 125kW/380Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder twin-turbo diesel.

VW Crafter

Volkswagen has discounted its Crafter van for its EOFY sale, with the TDI340 MWB dropped from $53,590 plus on-road costs down to just $52,990 drive-away.

The long-wheelbase version is also priced to sell, with the Crafter TDI340 LWB offered from $55,590 drive-away.

Both vans are powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine matched with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Fiat Doblo

The Doblo is now on offer from $23,950 drive-away in base 1.4L manual guise.

Italian manufacturer Fiat is offering drive-away deals for its Doblo small van and its larger Ducato short-wheelbase van.

The Doblo is now on offer from $23,950 drive-away in base 1.4L manual guise. For reference, the base Fiat Doblo has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $22,000 plus on-road costs.

Meanwhile, the larger Ducato SWB van is listed from $42,850 drive-away, while the same variant was previously priced from $41,890 plus on-road costs.

The Ducato is fitted with a six-speed automatic transmission and utilises a 2.3-litre diesel engine.

As part of its EOFY sales, the 2019 Partner SWB is available from $25,990 drive-away.

Peugeot is currently offering complimentary three years scheduled servicing on its commercial vehicle range, including its Partner, Expert and Boxer vans.

The Partner is motivated by an 81kW/205Nm 1.2-litre petrol engine matched with a six-speed manual gearbox, and boasts a 1000 kilogram payload.

Peugeot is also offering a deal on its 2019-plated Expert, with the diesel-powered Expert SWB available from $39,990 drive-away.

Standard tech comforts across Peugeot’s van range include AEB, lane-departure warning, and a rear parking camera, however, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is exclusive to the 2020 line-up.
