2021 was a year to remember – or forget – for all of us, but it was also an important 12-month period that saw the Australian new-vehicle market start to bounce back from some serious challenges, of which a few well-documented ones continue to linger.
When 2021 was all said and done, a total of 1,049,831 new vehicles were sold in Australia, representing a strong 14.5 per cent increase over a seriously compromised 2020.
Needless to say, 2021 brought plenty of good news to brands and models that had struggled in previous years, but it also saw others continue their downward trajectory.
Now, we often look at the Top 10 models (and brands) in our monthly sales reports, but what about the wider field? Well, there are some usual suspects near the top, desperately holding onto their prime positioning.
But there’s also a bunch of new models that entered the Top 100 for the first time in 2021, some of which impressively did so in their debut year. Yep, there are more than few surprises in the following list. Read on.
