The 2.0 TDI version of the Q2 kicks off a full $6800 higher up the price scale than the base 1.4 TFSI. On top of the 1.4's spec list you'll get body colour skirts and lower bumpers, sports seats, electric tailgate and aluminium trim inside.
Like the 1.4 petrol, you get a more spacious interior than the A3, with leather, an 8.3-inch multimedia screen run by Audi's MMI, an eight-speaker stereo, dual-zone climate control, sat nav, reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors and AEB.
A big part of the cost is the addition of a 110kW/320Nm 2.0 TDI diesel engine, quattro all-wheel drive and a more sophisticated multi-link rear suspension which turns a good chassis into a great one.
With the same seven-speed dual clutch auto, it also cuts 0.3L/100km from the official combined fuel figure, leaving you with just 5.0L/100km. Only problem is, you lose 50 litres of boot space
