The Qashqai TS specification is mostly based on the entry-level ST, but there's a price jump of $5000 from the ST auto to the auto-only TS, coming in at $33,990. That $5000 buys you the diesel engine and a few extra comforts over the ST.
These comforts include auto wipers and headlights, electric folding rear vision mirrors, foglights, tinted rear windows, six rather than four speakers for the otherwise identical stereo system, dual-zone climate control, keyless entry and start, 'premium' cloth trim, rear armrest and cupholders, an oddments tray in the centre console, auto anti-dazzle rear vision mirror, some upgraded piano black and chrome trim in the cabin and ambient interior lighting.
Being the diesel, servicing costs are higher but the fuel costs are lower, bringing the day-to-day ownership to within about $20 over $15,000km. If you regularly load up the car, the diesel is probably best given its increased torque figure.
