    Second from the top in the four grade Golf hatch line-up, the 110TSI Comfortline costs $29,990 drive-away (MSRP $28,990), which aligns it with key segment competitors like the Hyundai i30 SR, Mazda3 SP25, and Toyota Corolla ZR.

    Powered by a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine, producing 110kW from 5000-6000rpm, and 250Nm across a broad plateau from just 1500-3500rpm, it's offered with a seven-speed 'DSG' dual clutch auto transmission, driving the front wheels only.

    As you'd expect, the standard equipment list is lengthy, including cruise control, seven airbags, driver-fatigue detection, a new 8.0-inch multimedia screen, AEB, 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control air, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, LED daytime running lights, a rear-view camera, rain-sensing wipers, auto headlights, parking sensors, chrome interior and exterior highlights, and a rear centre armrest (with cupholders).
