Ford Territory 2007: Issues with plumbing

Answered by CarsGuide 22 Nov 2019

There’s nothing to suggest there are any issues with the turbo plumbing on the Territory. The turbo Territory is a rocketship, but it uses a lot of fuel in the pursuit of performance.

Gears slipping in a Ford Territory

The transmission probably needs servicing at the least, perhaps even rebuilding. Have a mechanic check it.

Issues with my Ford Territory

Answered by CarsGuide 16 Mar 2018

It was a common problem with that model, and Ford was replacing ball joints when the cars were new or relatively new. Contact Ford’s customer service and lodge a claim to have the repairs done at its expense. Because the car is so old, and has done a lot of kilometres, and you’re not using a Ford dealer for service I would be inclined to think your claim would probably be rejected.

Rust on bonnet

Answered by CarsGuide 18 Jul 2012

Rust like yours was a regular problem with the Territory, but you need to have a close look at what is actually covered under the "perforation" protection. If the panel isn't perforated, as I suspect, you're probably not covered. But that shouldn't stop you from pursuing Ford for a new bonnet.

Weak wheel bearing

Answered by CarsGuide 18 Jun 2012

We have had lots of reports of issues with the Territory, but we haven't had reports of wheel bearing problems. That you have had three in three years would suggest that it's a problem with your vehicle, and it's perhaps worth having it closely checked for a manufacturing fault.

Ford Territory cracked diff

Answered by CarsGuide 5 Apr 2012

Cracked bushes on the rear diff of the early Territory is a common problem, so common that I would expect Ford to come to the party to pay at least part of the cost of repairs. I would continue to press your claim against Ford.

Territory struggles to start

Answered by CarsGuide 15 Mar 2012

The first thing to do is to check the battery to make sure it's ok. If it is the original battery, it's now five years old and could well be in need of replacement. If the battery checks out ok I'd be checking the engine sensors, like the crank angle sensor, and their connections.
