Kicking off the 6 range is the entry-level Sport, available in both sedan and wagon form. And that's where your choices end, because the only engine you can get is the 2.5-litre naturally aspirated four cylinder driving the front wheels.
To get you going for either $32,490 or $33,790, Mazda sends you out with 17-inch alloys, LED headlights, power mirrors and windows, auto headlights and wipers, six-speaker stereo, dual-zone climate control, leather steering wheel and gear shifter, sat nav, keyless start, central locking, active cruise control, rear parking sensors, head-up display and a space-saver spare.
Mazda's reputation for loading up with safety gear remains undimmed with the new 6. It has six airbags, ABS, stability and traction controls, high beam control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, radar cruise control, forward and reversing AEB, reverse cross-traffic alert, reversing camera and traffic sign recognition.
Mazda's MZD Connect touchscreen handles the media (including DAB radio) and sat nav duties on an 8.0-inch touchscreen with a rotary dial control.
